Points on the Wheel is a relationship-based, grassroots organization that engages people to accomplish together what none of us could do on our own. We respond to the requests of the communities where we have relationships, where we have been invited to engage. We are advocates, resource gatherers, project managers, and volunteer recruiters. Once invited, we build relationships in communities. We gather resources based on the request of the community leaders where we work. We make our decisions about projects based on the priorities of the community leaders. And we recruit volunteers who are open to learning from those they have come to assist. Some examples of our work have been to gather resources to build a school in Haiti, connect a friend who developed a solar-powered phone charger with communities in Haiti and The Bahamas, organize and deliver over 350 boxes of relief supplies to the border in Texas, guide and encourage volunteers to assist with partner locations in Spruce Island, Alaska, Eagle Pass, Texas, Eleuthera, The Bahamas, and multiple communities in Haiti. We are also advocates and practitioners of earth friendly, people friendly farming in many of the communities in which we work including our home base, Kansas City, Missouri.
